ENGLISH AND FRENCH ANTIQUE TEXTILES

VERY RARE AND BEAUTIFUL ENGLISH LADIES' EMBROIDERED SILK BAG ca. 1750

A ladies' bag in yellow silk, and extensively embroidered all over with an intricate floral design in the most beautiful fresh colors.
I have never ever seen an 18th century silk bag in such outstanding condition. The interior is lined with dark purple silk, and the ribbons are of the same dark color.
There is a little minor damage right at the bottom of the lining, but this does not show of course. The outside is excellent.

A rare and important 250 years old item, deserving a place in an advanced costume collection.

This bag came from a country house sale in the North of England, and the surname of the original family is written on a paper and attached to this bag. It would have belonged to an 18th century member of the present family.

Measurements: 10 1/2" x 10 1/2"

Price: SOLD
