ENGLISH AND FRENCH ANTIQUE TEXTILES

TWO SMALL EMPIRE PERIOD LADIES' RETICULES - FRENCH ca. 1810

Two dainty little reticules, which would have been carried by young ladies in the early 1800s. They are exceedingly rare.

One is made of formed hard cardboard, wood and green fabric within a frame, and is box-shaped. It has red leather lining, and a little leather rosette on the lid.

The other is of woven straw and side insets of red leather, with a leather fastening. Both have original handles.

The condition of both is good. There are various signs of wear on both - quite understandable for these 200 year old little gems.

Measurements: Green fabric reticule: 7" at the widest point. Straw reticule: 8" at the widest point.
