ENGLISH & FRENCH ANTIQUE TEXTILES

A PAIR OF BEAUTIFUL BLONDE HORN CARVED BRISE FANS WITH TINY CUT STEEL DECORATION. ENGLISH OR FRENCH ca.1815

These little brisè carved horn fans are always magical and these two are no exception. They are either French or English and date to about 1815.

The size is small, to fit in a reticule and ladies would have several to fit with any ball or party gown.

This pair are heavily carved and are covered in very minute fitted steel points to reflect the light. They sparkle when caught by the sun, or as they would have been - by candlelight.

The fans are in very good condition for their 200 years. Both have very isolated stars missing, but this is very hard to find and is not obvious. Both have very slight shape variation when closed, but this is minor.

The fans have been cleaned, over-hauled and are threaded with replaced vintage ribbon.

The pictures cannot capture the glitter of the little "stars", but these are two beautiful pieces.

The fans measure 6 & 1/2" and 5 & 3/4" high respectively.
