ENGLISH & FRENCH ANTIQUE TEXTILES

A DELIGHTFUL AND RARE WOODEN SEWING BOX WITH CONTENTS. ENGLISH ORIGIN ca.1820

This lovely sewing box is a rare item in such remarkable condition. It originates from England and this is shown by the typical scene of an English church depicted on the lid.

It has a wooden handle and the interior is in a pink which is so typical of the early 19th century.

The contents can be clearly be seen in the photos. There is a velvet and ivory pincushion, a larger silk pincushion, a thimble, a beautiful pin case in the form of a scallop shell and three pearl silk holders.

I cannot be sure whether these are original to the box, but they are certainly from the same period.

This little box and the contents, have clearly been well looked after. I can find no faults except the minutest knock to one corner, which hardly shows and does not detract.

So all in excellent condition and a lovely collectors item.
