SUPERBLY BEAUTIFUL AND HISTORIC EMPIRE PERIOD IVORY EMBROIDERED SHAWL. FRENCH ca.1805

A beautiful ivory muslin shawl all hand embroidered from the beginning of the 19th century, dating from the French Empire period - ca. 1805.

The shawl is ivory and the embroidery is executed in the typical style of this period. One sees these designs in many decorative items of the Napoleonic era. The large field is scattered with sprigs all over making a stylish and decorative summer or evening shawl.

The condition is excellent for the age. There is a couple of tiny pale marks and a very small area right on one edge of conservation, but the overall effect is amazing, for it's over 200 years. Strong and stable.

Measurements: 60" x 60" approximately.

Price: SOLD
