A WONDERFUL AND LARGE LINEN PELMET SUPERBLY PRINTED IN WINE RED WITH THE FAMOUS "CHARIOT OF DAWN" DESIGN. FRENCH ca.1785

This is a rare and beautiful piece of antique printed linen. It dates from the late 18th century. It is printed in wine red with the design "Chariot of Dawn", so popular with almost every collector of antique toile.

The quality of the printing is of top quality and it is on fine linen.

The condition is overall good, however, the actual structure of the pelmet itself is damaged.

It is bound at the base with silk ribbon. This has completely detached itself at one end. It could be reattached by careful sewing.

It has one hole of about 1" at one side. The reverse, which is half toile and half coarse muslin is damaged. The toile is in order, but the muslin has holes all over. However, none of these holes come anywhere near the front toile.

There is a seam at one edge. This needs stitching for about 1"

On the positive side, the actual body of the pelmet is fine, and the different designs which are so important, are in very good condition.

A stupendous piece if you can repair it well, and if not, there is lots of material for projects, if you can bear to cut it!

Measurements: 70" x 22" approximately.
