ENGLISH AND FRENCH ANTIQUE TEXTILES

SILK FOLDER WITH MAGNIFICANT HAND EMBROIDERY – GERMAN 19TH CENTURY.

This beautiful cream silk “folder” is embroidered in the 18th manner with the most intricate of hand work, in silks and gold metal thread. The inside is quilted.

It is part of a collection of items sold in London by members of the Royal House of Hanover (Germany).

George 1st of Hanover took over the English throne in 1714, so there is a strong royal connection by the present-day aristocratic family.

Condition: Excellent – appears never to have been used, and with a hand-written note stating the name of the lady who probably worked this lovely item.

Measurements: (folded) 17 ½” x 11”

Price: USD $1,500.-
